Unlocking Creativity: Google’s Veo 2 Video Generation Model Now Integrated with Gemini
Google is set to enhance its premium AI offerings by introducing the Veo 2 video-generating AI model to subscribers of Gemini Advanced. This move marks a significant step in the competitive landscape of video generation technologies, particularly in response to platforms like OpenAI’s Sora.
Introduction of Veo 2 to Gemini Advanced Subscribers
Beginning this Tuesday, users who subscribe to the Gemini Advanced plan will have access to Veo 2 from the model selection menu in Google’s Gemini applications. This feature allows users to create engaging eight-second video clips with the following specifications:
- Resolution: 720p
- Aspect Ratio: 16:9
These clips can be easily shared on popular platforms such as TikTok and YouTube thanks to the integrated “share” button in Gemini. Additionally, videos generated by Veo 2 can be downloaded as MP4 files, which will feature Google’s SynthID watermark for authenticity.
Usage Limitations and Integrations
It’s important to note that there are restrictions on the number of videos users can create each month. Currently, Google Workspace business and education plans are not eligible for this feature.
Furthermore, Google is enhancing the functionality of Veo 2 by integrating it with Whisk, an experimental feature available through Google Labs. This innovative tool allows users to input images as prompts to generate new visuals. The new Whisk Animate feature will enable users to transform their generated images into eight-second videos using Veo 2.
To access these features, users must subscribe to Google One’s AI Premium plan, which costs $20 per month.

While the current applications of Veo 2 may appear basic, Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, has hinted at future plans to integrate Gemini AI models with Veo for enhanced understanding of the physical world. This could lead to more sophisticated video generation capabilities.

A recent study commissioned by the Animation Guild highlights that over 100,000 jobs in the U.S. film, television, and animation sectors could be disrupted by AI technologies by 2026.
