Apple Unveils Powerful New iPad Air Featuring Cutting-Edge M3 Chip

Apple has recently launched its latest iPad Air models featuring the powerful M3 chip, available in both 11-inch and 13-inch sizes. Preorders for these innovative devices began on Tuesday, with the official launch set for March 12.

Pricing and Color Options for the New iPad Air

The new iPad Air is priced starting at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch model. Customers can choose from four stunning colors:

  • Blue
  • Purple
  • Starlight
  • Space Gray

Each model comes in various storage configurations, including 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

Performance Enhancements with the M3 Chip

While the new iPad Air supports Apple Intelligence, it does not utilize Apple’s latest M4 chip. Nonetheless, Apple asserts that the iPad Air with the M3 chip is nearly twice as fast as its predecessor, the iPad Air with the M1 chip, and up to 3.5 times faster than the model featuring the A14 Bionic chip.

It is important to note that Apple has provided comparisons mainly with older iPad models, excluding the iPad Air with the M2 chip, which was launched last year.

Introducing the Updated Magic Keyboard

Alongside the iPad Air, Apple has revealed an updated Magic Keyboard that enhances user experience with a larger trackpad and a new 14-key function row. This design allows for quick access to essential features like screen brightness and volume controls. Key features include:

  • Magnetic attachment for easy setup
  • Smart Connector for instant power and data connection
  • Machined aluminum hinge for durability
  • USB-C connector for charging

The new Magic Keyboard is priced at $269 for the 11-inch model and $319 for the 13-inch model, available in a sleek white finish.

Performance Improvements in Graphics and AI

Apple claims that the iPad Air with the M3 chip offers a 35% increase in speed for multithreaded CPU workflows compared to the M1 model. Additionally, it boasts a 9-core GPU that delivers up to 40% faster graphics performance.

For AI-based tasks, the Neural Engine in the M3 chip is reported to be up to 60% faster than the M1.

New iPad with A16 Chip

In a related announcement, Apple has also upgraded its iPad lineup with the A16 chip, which enhances everyday performance significantly. This new iPad model is nearly 30% faster than its predecessor, and users can expect a 50% overall performance improvement compared to the iPad with the A13 Bionic chip. Additionally, the A16 chip ensures that the new iPad is up to 6 times faster than the leading Android tablet.

Versatility for All Users

Bob Borchers, Apple’s Vice President of Worldwide Product Marketing, stated, “For everyone from college students taking notes with Apple Pencil Pro to travelers and content creators who need powerful productivity on the go, the iPad Air with M3, Apple Intelligence, and the new Magic Keyboard take versatility and value to the next level.”
