Apple is currently facing challenges in revitalizing Siri for the era of generative AI. According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the tech giant may not unveil a fully modernized and conversational version of Siri until the release of iOS 20 in 2027. However, this does not imply that significant updates for Siri are off the table in the meantime.

Upcoming Siri Updates

Exciting changes are on the horizon for Siri users. A new version of Siri is expected to launch in May, which will integrate Apple Intelligence features that were initially announced almost a year ago.

Features of the New Siri Version

Gurman describes this upcoming version of Siri as having “two brains.” These two components will serve distinct purposes:

  • Traditional Commands: The first brain will handle basic tasks like setting timers and making phone calls.
  • Advanced Queries: The second brain will focus on more complex inquiries that can utilize user data for intelligent responses.

This innovative system, referred to internally as “LLM Siri,” is set to be unveiled at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) scheduled for June. The expected launch of this upgraded Siri is in the spring of 2026.

Future Development Plans for Siri

According to Gurman, only after the introduction of LLM Siri will Apple be able to fully concentrate on enhancing Siri’s advanced capabilities. These improvements are anticipated to be rolled out in the following year, potentially transforming the user experience significantly.
