Google's Gemini: Restrictions on Political Question Responses Explained

Google Unveils Exciting ‘Canvas’ Feature in Gemini: Explore the New Audio Overview!

Google has recently introduced an exciting new feature to its AI-powered Gemini chatbot called Canvas. This innovative tool aims to enhance user experience by offering an interactive space for creating, refining, and sharing writing and coding projects, similar to OpenAI’s Canvas tool for ChatGPT and Anthropic’s Artifacts.

What is Gemini Canvas?

As highlighted by Gemini product director Dave Citron in a blog post shared with TechCrunch, Gemini Canvas is designed for seamless collaboration. The new functionalities allow users to leverage Gemini as an effective collaborator, making it easier to bring creative ideas to fruition.

Features of Gemini Canvas

  • Interactive Workspaces: Gemini Canvas, ChatGPT Canvas, and Artifacts represent AI companies’ efforts to transform their chatbots into comprehensive productivity suites.
  • Enhanced Editing: Users can draft extensive messages, edit specific sections, and modify tone, length, and formatting with dedicated tools.
  • Collaboration Made Easy: Users can export their work directly to Google Docs with a simple click for easy sharing and collaboration.
  • Programming Capabilities: Canvas allows users to generate and preview HTML, React code, and other web application prototypes.

How to Use Gemini Canvas

Gemini Canvas can be accessed via the prompt bar in the Gemini app, both on web and mobile platforms. Here’s how users can maximize its features:

  1. Edit with Ease: Highlight a paragraph and request Gemini to adjust its style, whether you want it to be more concise, professional, or informal.
  2. Code Generation: For example, if you’re looking to create an email subscription form for your website, simply ask Gemini to generate the HTML code and preview how it will function in your web app.

Audio Overview Feature

In addition to Canvas, Google has also integrated the Audio Overview feature from NotebookLM into Gemini. This function creates realistic podcast-style audio summaries of various documents and web pages. Users can upload documents through the prompt bar, triggering the Audio Overview feature, which can then be downloaded or shared.

Availability

Both the Canvas and Audio Overview features are available for free to Gemini users globally as of Tuesday. However, it is important to note that the Canvas code preview feature is currently limited to the web version, and Audio Overview summaries are exclusively available in English.
