Transform Your Calls: Krisp’s AI Technology Helps Indians Speak Like Americans!

Krisp, an innovative audio startup, has announced the launch of an exciting new feature that utilizes AI to modify a user’s accent during calls. This cutting-edge technology is initially focused on transforming Indian English accents to U.S. English, aiming to enhance communication across diverse audiences.

Revolutionary Accent Conversion Technology

The accent conversion feature developed by Krisp is designed to maintain the speaker’s original voice while adjusting phonemes to align with American accents. This feature has been rigorously tested in enterprise environments, and users can now access a beta version through the Krisp desktop app. Users have the flexibility to activate this feature during or before their calls.

Background and Inspiration

According to Arto Minasyan, co-founder of Krisp, the motivation behind this feature arose from personal experiences. “Many people don’t understand my accent even though I am speaking English well. We thought changing accents might help people understand each other much better. We started working on this problem two years ago, and now we are releasing it in beta,” Minasyan explained.

Initial User Experience

During a test of the feature, some users reported that the processed voice lacked a natural tone and occasionally missed words. Krisp attributes these issues to the beta phase, assuring users that the model will continue to improve over time.

Impact on Business Communication

Krisp has shared impressive results from its enterprise testing, claiming that the new feature led to a 26.1% increase in sales conversion rates and a 14.8% rise in revenue per booking.

Targeting Indian Accents First

The decision to prioritize Indian accents was strategic, as individuals from India represent a significant portion of the global workforce in STEM fields. Krisp has plans to expand its offerings to include additional accents, such as Filipino.

Competitive Landscape

Other startups, like Sanas, are also implementing similar technology in call centers, demonstrating a growing trend in accent modification solutions.

AI Model Training and Real-Time Adaptation

Krisp’s AI model was trained on thousands of speech samples spanning various accents and dialects, utilizing data from its meeting assistant, with user consent. Another significant advantage of Krisp’s feature is that it does not require pre-training on a user’s voice; it generates a profile for each speaker in real-time.

Future Developments

Having last raised capital in 2021, Krisp is gearing up to launch iOS and Android apps later this year to facilitate in-person meetings. Furthermore, a new Chrome extension is in development to enhance integration with Google Meet.

Stay tuned for more updates on Krisp’s innovative features that aim to break down communication barriers and foster understanding in professional settings.
