Transform Your Creativity: VSCO Unveils AI-Powered Collaborative Moodboard

VSCO, a popular photo and video editing platform, has recently unveiled its latest feature: an AI-powered collaborative moodboard called Canvas. This innovative tool aims to enhance the creative process for photographers and artists by providing an intuitive way to visualize and edit their projects.

What is Canvas?

Canvas is a moodboard that allows users to import their photos and utilize the comprehensive editing tools offered by VSCO. These editing tools enable users to adjust essential settings such as:

  • Shadows
  • Brightness
  • Exposure
  • Temperature
  • Tint
  • Grain
  • Blur
  • Vibrance
  • Hue

AI Features in Canvas

The real magic of Canvas comes from its AI capabilities. Users can generate images from text prompts, making the creative process even more dynamic. Additionally, the moodboard allows users to:

  • Select specific parts of an image to recreate using a “region prompt” menu.
  • Adjust the weights of the region prompt with a slider for more control over variations.
  • Utilize a variation button that creates different versions of an image based on user preferences.

Collaboration Made Easy

One of the standout features of Canvas is its collaborative aspect. Users can share their moodboard with team members, facilitating the creation of multiple iterations for any given project. As VSCO’s CEO, Eric Wittman, stated, “Photographers, who often work alone, use Google Slides or Pinterest to create a vision for a project they want to show clients. We thought there could be a better tool that was designed for ideation with creators in the front and center of it.”

Technology Behind Canvas

Canvas leverages technology from Facet, an image editing startup acquired by VSCO last year. Facet had previously raised over $13 million in funding, indicating the strength of its technology and vision.

Positive Reception and Future Plans

This marks VSCO’s first foray into integrating AI into its products, and the initial feedback has been promising. During the test phase of Canvas, more than 84% of content was generated using AI, showcasing the tool’s effectiveness and potential.

Looking ahead, VSCO plans to enhance user experience further by allowing users to search and import photos uploaded to the platform directly into the moodboard.

Competitors in the Moodboard Space

The launch of Canvas comes shortly after Adobe introduced its own AI-powered moodboard, which includes image generation and editing features. Other startups like Visual Electric, Cove, and Kosmik are also exploring similar tools to foster collaboration among creatives.

Accessing Canvas

Canvas is available to all VSCO users, but paying subscribers will benefit from additional credits for generating images using the AI model. This feature is designed to enhance the creative possibilities for those looking to elevate their artistic projects.
