Unlock Amazon Alexa+ for Just $19.99 or Free with Prime Membership!

Amazon has unveiled its latest innovation, Alexa+, an enhanced version of its popular virtual assistant. Starting at just $19.99 per month or offered for free to Amazon Prime subscribers, this new experience is set to roll out in early access next month across the U.S., with a broader launch planned over the following months.

Device Compatibility for Alexa+

The initial rollout of Alexa+ will be compatible with several devices, including:

  • Echo Show 8
  • Echo Show 10
  • Echo Show 15
  • Echo Show 21

However, it’s currently unclear whether other devices, such as the Echo Dot and Echo Pop, will also support this new feature.

New Features in the Alexa Ecosystem

In conjunction with the launch of Alexa+, Amazon is introducing Alexa.com, a revamped web platform designed for long-form tasks. Additionally, the Alexa mobile app will receive a significant update, featuring a completely new interface and enhanced functionality.

Amazon’s Vision with Alexa+

During a recent event in NYC, Panos Panay, Amazon’s Chief of Devices and Services, emphasized the transformative power of generative AI. He stated, “Today with generative AI and a completely re-architected Alexa, we’re moving the world from chatbots to something entirely new.”

Pricing Comparison with Competitors

At $19.99, Alexa+ remains competitive against other generative AI-powered chatbots available in the market. Notably, both OpenAI’s entry-level paid plan for ChatGPT and Google’s premium Gemini Advanced assistant are priced the same.

Initial Expectations vs. Reality

While the pricing is attractive, it exceeds previous rumors, which suggested an introductory price ranging from $5 to $10, potentially accompanied by a generous free trial offer.
