British Business Bank Invests £50M in Elbow Beach to Propel UK Climate Tech Innovation
Elbow Beach, a pioneering seed investor dedicated to advancing climate technology, has recently announced a substantial financial commitment to its Climate Impact Fund 2. This initiative has gained traction following a pledge of up to £50 million from the British Business Bank through its Enterprise Capital Funds program.
Funding Highlights for Elbow Beach
The Climate Impact Fund 2 has successfully attracted £63 million in total capital commitments, of which £40 million is immediately deployable. This funding will enable Elbow Beach to invest in up to 36 innovative British startups over the forthcoming four years.

These investments are particularly aimed at early-stage companies, including university spinouts and those that have received Innovate UK grants, which are positioned to scale and explore international markets.
The Role of the British Business Bank
The British Business Bank plays a vital role in the UK venture capital landscape. Through its Enterprise Capital Funds program, it has supported 47 funds to date, channeling over £2.3 billion into the venture capital ecosystem, specifically targeting fund managers focused on high-growth startups.
