Revolut Enhances Ukrainian Support with New Services and Charity Initiative via Clear Sky Card
Revolut, a leading global financial app with a user base exceeding 50 million, has recently expanded its services to include Ukrainian residents. This significant move is complemented by the launch of a new international donation campaign aimed at supporting those affected by the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
Revolut’s Support for Ukrainian Residents
With the introduction of the special edition Clear Sky card, Revolut aims to symbolize hope for a peaceful future in Ukraine. This initiative allows Ukrainian residents to open a European Revolut account, granting them access to a variety of innovative financial products, including:
- Instant, fee-free peer-to-peer (P2P) transfers among Revolut users.
- Foreign exchange and remittance services in over 30 currencies.
- Ability to send and receive money from abroad without high transfer fees.
- Options to order both virtual and physical debit cards.
Partnership with Diia for Secure Onboarding
To ensure a secure onboarding experience for its Ukrainian users, Revolut has partnered with Diia, Ukraine’s award-winning e-government platform. This collaboration is designed to facilitate access to digital banking services for Ukrainian residents.
Since 2022, more than 700,000 Ukrainians living in the UK and European Economic Area (EEA) have utilized Revolut’s services, transferring over €1 billion to Ukraine. Key countries contributing to these transfers include Germany, the UK, Ireland, Poland, and the Netherlands.
Special Edition Clear Sky VISA Debit Card
The Clear Sky VISA debit card, crafted by Revolut’s Ukrainian design team, features a striking transparent blue design that reflects the colors of the Ukrainian flag. This card serves as a powerful emblem of hope for a safer future in Ukraine. Availability includes:
- Customers in the UK and EEA can order the card by making a minimum donation of €/£5.
- Ukrainian residents can obtain the card without any donation requirement.
Revolut has committed to matching customer donations, up to a total of £200,000. All funds raised will be directed to UK for UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, to provide essential support for Ukrainians displaced by the war.
Humanitarian Impact and Ongoing Support
According to UNHCR data, approximately 3.7 million people are currently displaced within Ukraine, while 6.7 million are refugees and asylum-seekers in need of humanitarian assistance. Revolut co-founder and CTO, Vlad Yatsenko, expressed his pride in the company’s ongoing support for Ukraine, noting a significant interest in Revolut’s services among Ukrainians.
“A record number of Ukrainians have joined our waiting list to access Revolut accounts, and interest in digital banking solutions is rapidly growing in the CEE region,” Yatsenko stated.
Dmytro Strelchuk, Revolut’s head of new market launches, emphasized the importance of this initiative: “Our technology will enable Ukrainians to open European bank accounts, facilitating instant money transfers across our global community.”
Since the onset of the full-scale invasion, Revolut has contributed over £10 million to the Red Cross Ukraine appeal, including a corporate donation of £1.5 million, and has collaborated with various charities in the UK and EEA to enhance crisis relief efforts.
